As SOA lays the foundation for a miriad of SOA-based business solutions, OOP lays the foundation for SOA.  This mey lead to a bunch of hard-to-integrate object models. (Carlos Eduardo Capparelli)

@Ali, agree. Even without SOA can we not have greater discussion with Business and IT. I think SOA certainly helps to collaborate more and idenitfy product/function features incremently instead of a single product or nothing model. @Ali agree on Biz. tech. role. (Hari R)

SOA is one of the possible option among many other viable choices. So, a formalized Portfolio should drive business and IT governance, which should be aligned. That is, we should have an Enterpreise Archecture Porfolio above our Services Portfolios (Carlos Eduardo Capparelli)

To my opinion you need a mature IT SOA organisation before you involve and moreover push the SOA to the business, else this operation will faill. 1st mature IT and 2nd include the business. BUT start early with business 'ambassedors' to have them on board when the time is ready. Indeed de maturity of the IT and the business is crucial. (Gerrit Mannessen)

How do maintain equilibrium between SOA and application components (building-blocks) in an EA. Is this more of a governance issue ? (A.V.(Mike) Maitreyan)

I understand the benefit of using services.  From your perspective, are there any disadvantages or limitations of SOA in real live? (Jan Loewe)
@ Jan, the disadvantage or limitation of SOA is time, it takes quite some time to devel a mature IT environment and staff and you need to develop the starting basic SOA environment from scratch. (Gerrit Mannessen)
